From 19 to 23 October 2022, the international conference "Rescue 2022" was held in Reykjavik, Iceland, on the topic of search and rescue (SAR) and emergency response to natural or man-made disasters.
Among the international speakers invited to contribute to the Rescue 2022 conference there was Dr. Antonio Cardillo, Civil Defense Service Officer, Decentralized Functional Center of Molise, the only Italian speaker, who presented a scientific paper on the use of DSS (Decision Support System) systems for the creation of event scenarios, implemented on multichannel (social media, drones, amateur networks, etc.) with linked decision flows for appropriate response, proposing the development of first response protocols in hostile and impervious environments.
The activity was part of the initiatives of the project TO BE READY -The flOod and Big firEfoREst, prediction, forecAstanDemergency management, supported by the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro.
The event agenda included, on 19 and 20 October, pre-conference exercises and workshops on the topics of SAR at sea and on ice.
